Summary of the Session:
The 9th Annual Sports Meet of Hindustan International School, Guindy, was held on the 2nd of August 2025 with immense enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The day marked a vibrant celebration of physical fitness, sportsmanship, and school unity.
The event commenced with the assembly of students in their respective house formations. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed, including the Chief Guest, Justice A. A. Nakkiran, former Judge of the Madras High Court, and the Executive Director, Lieutenant General Bobby Mathews. A heartfelt welcome address was delivered by Dr. Lalli CK, the Head of School, followed by the presidential address by Executive Director, Lieutenant General Bobby Mathews and felicitation of the chief guest.
The School Flag was unfurled, followed by the March Past led by the Student Council and House contingents. The coordination and discipline displayed during the march highlighted the students’ dedication and rigorous training. The torch-lighting ceremony ignited the spirit of sportsmanship, followed by the oath-taking by the sports captains.
Justice A. A. Nakkiran officially declared the Sports Meet open, marking the start of the day’s athletic contests and drills.
A colourful drill performance by Grades 2 and 3, titled Sigma Kids, brought a lively energy to the field.
The day saw a range of events across different age groups. Students from pre-primary to senior grades participated in various track events including:
- 100m & 200m Dashes (Grades 3–12)
- 75m & 100m Dashes (Grades 1–2)
- 50m Dash & Obstacle Races (PP1–PP3)
- 4x100m Relays (PP1–PP3)
Medals were awarded to individual winners in each category, and house points were updated after every event.
Justice Nakkiran delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing discipline, perseverance, and fairness in both sports and life.
In the afternoon, all houses assembled once again for the closing march.
The highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of the March Past winner – Abraham Lincoln House, and the Overall Championship Trophy, was awarded to Nelson Mandela House.
Individual championships were also recognized across various grades for outstanding athletic performance.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Shree Varshini, the Sports Captain, acknowledging the efforts of all faculty, parents, and student participants.
The event concluded with the school choir’s rendition of “Abide with Me,” the symbolic extinguishing of the torch, lowering of the flag, and the National Anthem.
The 9th Annual Sports Meet was a grand success that encouraged teamwork, discipline, and the spirit of healthy competition. It also showcased the all-round development of students at Hindustan International School, Guindy. The event was a testimony to the school’s commitment to holistic education and physical well-being.
